Sitting on the roof of the world! WOW! Sitting on the highest place on earth is pretty surreal! The fight to get there and realise this dream, emotionally, physically & mentally has been HUGE! That last hour of climbing to the Summit was tough, everything in my body was screaming NO, everything in my mind was screaming YES!!!! The adventure is not over yet. Jangbu & I are stranded at C3 at 8300m. This is not a comfortable altitude to be hanging out at! 😱 We spent last night here and if anything, the winds are becoming increasingly more threatening. 💙 #everesteveryday
Getting down is always a dangerous part of any climb as you have to keep your wits about you. No time for popping open the bubbles just yet, it’s a long way down. It was a wonderful bluebird day, with a calm and a stillness. Quite in contrast to the day before and indeed a few hours later, when the storms raged.
It was a view I will never forgot. Looking down on peaks that you know are big boys is quite surreal. Tracing my steps back to base camp and marvelling at just how far away it looked and imagining how quickly I could get back down with a magical zip line! Thinking about the people who have lost their lives trying to get to this very spot, sometimes through no fault of their own.
Grey clouds started to appear to my right, a sure sign it was time to wrap this party up and start heading back down.
